Volleyball FAQ
Volleyball is a team sport played between two teams of six players each, separated by a net. The objective is to ground the ball on the opponent’s court while preventing the opponent from doing the same.
Each team has 6 players on court (plus substitutes). Players rotate positions each time they win back the serve.
- Matches are best of 5 sets.
- Each set is played to 25 points, but a team must win by 2 points.
- The deciding 5th set is played to 15 points.
- Every rally counts (rally scoring system).

- Standard indoor or outdoor court
- Each team gets 3 touches to return the ball (not counting a block).
- A player cannot hit the ball twice in a row.
- The ball must cross over the net within bounds.
- Players must rotate clockwise when winning the serve.
- Setter – sets up attackers with accurate passes.
- Outside hitter (spiker) – attacks from the left side.
- Opposite hitter – attacks from the right side.
- Middle blocker – defends and blocks in the center.
Libero – defensive specialist who cannot attack or serve (wears a different jersey).
