      Squash FAQ

Squash is a fast-paced indoor racquet sport played by two or four players in a four-walled court, where players take turns hitting a small rubber ball against the front wall.

      • Singles: 1 vs 1 (most common)
      • Doubles: 2 vs 2 (played on a wider court)
      • Squash racquet (lightweight, stringed racquet)
      • Squash ball (small, hollow rubber ball)
      • Indoor non-marking shoes
      • Comfortable sportswear and protective eyewear (recommended)
      • Games are usually played to 11 points (win by 2).
      • Points are scored on every rally (rally scoring system).
      • Matches are typically best of 3 or 5 games.
      • The ball must be hit against the front wall above the tin (bottom boundary).
      • The ball can hit side and back walls before reaching the front wall.
      • The ball must stay within the marked boundary lines.
      • Each player must allow their opponent a fair chance to play the ball (called “let” or “stroke” decisions).

Squash balls come with different dot colors to indicate bounce/speed:

      • Double yellow dot: Professional, very low bounce (slowest)
      • Single yellow dot: Advanced players
      • Red dot: Intermediate players
      • Blue dot: Beginner (fastest, highest bounce)
